Biotech Consortium India Limited (BCIL) has been identified as the Project Management Unit (PMU) by Department of Biotechnology (DBT) The Certification Agency for assisting and managing the “National Certification System for Tissue Culture Raised Plant (NCS-TCP)” in terms of recognition of tissue culture production facilities and accreditation of test laboratories.
PMU/BCIL is successfully managing the programme since its inception. Accreditation Cell of PMU is responsible for receiving, analyzing, processing of applications and issuing/ renewing “Certificate of Recognition” to commercial Tissue Culture Production Facilities and “Certificate of Accreditation” to Test Laboratory in addition to providing necessary guidance to Tissue Culture Production Facilities and providing feedback to DBT on new initiatives.
Biotech Consortium India Limited (BCIL) is the company promoted by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India and the all India financial Institutions to facilitate accelerated commercialization of biotechnology by providing necessary linkages among research laboratories, universities, industry and the government. The major areas of activities are technology transfer, consultancy, information dissemination and manpower training and placement related to biotechnology. BCIL has in-depth experience and expertise in the area of plant tissue culture by virtue of having conducted market survey, feasibility studies and organizing workshops to address specific issues relevant to promoting commercialization of plant tissue culture. BCIL has been closely associated with the various stages of evolution of the NCS-TCP and has in-depth knowledge and experience of the system.
